Somehow as parents we  expect that our kids can become  healthy eaters overnight. We introduce them to nutritious eats at a young age but if they don’t like our offerings, we tend to give up too easily.  If  the broccoli gets shunned the first time it’s presented, it becomes a veggie that makes few appearances at the dinner table.

But learning how to be a healthy eater is a process.  You prepared for the fact that teaching your kids the values to live their lives will take years, so why do you think that liking nutritious eats will happen overnight?

It takes time and patience. But keep in mind that parents are the gatekeepers to their kids’ food choices.

That’s gatekeepers – not the nutrition police or pushovers.

Here are 5 common nutrition mistakes families make from my column in Parents Canada magazine.
