Here’s a tasty and simple way to reap cranberries’ assorted health perks. This simple recipe, adapted from  the Ocean  Spray  kitchens, that’s great with chicken and fish and of course, turkey.

Santa Fe Cranberry Relish

Makes about 2 ½  cups/ 625 mL or 10 servings

1 12-ounce (300-g)  package fresh or frozen cranberries
3/4 cup  (175 mL) sugar
1 medium jalapeño, cut into quarters
1 green onion, cut into quarters
3 tbsp  (45 mL) chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 tsp ( 1mL)  ground cumin

Put all ingredients in a food processor. Process until the mixture is coarsely chopped. Store in a non-metal bowl in refrigerator overnight to allow flavors to blend.

Calories:  75
Protein:  less than 1 gram
Fat:  less than 1 gram
Saturated Fat: 0 grams
Carbohydrate: 19 grams
Dietary Fibre: 2  grams
Sodium: 20 milligrams
